冬瓜盅

My loving dad got us local grown winter melon… a whole piece of it…  excitedly said, you can make 冬瓜盅 。。。 I remembered when am young, very young time. My mum did ONCE only and my dad engraved my Chinese name on the winter melon. I remembered till now.. 

So excitedly I wanna make one too but I don’t have the skills to engrave and I still wanna my fat fingers….  so I just do the basic one.
So prepare the soup base first with chicken thigh, carrot, fresh mushroom, red dates and somd cut out winter melon.

Who knows 假厉害咯。。
Wanna double boiled it and tot it will work…
Who know 人算不如天算。。。 3hrs and only 1/3 of it is cooked…  I removed the soup and the flesh…  dump into my soup pot.
很不死心to cut it out to just cook the soup… and my OVEN is baking…  so I tot why not I try and steam bake it…  since it failed, end up cutting it lo..
Who knows 30min + some waiting time in the oven….
Its perfectly done!!! I can smelled the fragant of the wintermelon releasing 
香到不得了!!!! so after removing it, I filled up with the soup that I cooked with all the liaos.   真的好喝!!

Part 1
In order to let it sat still on the bowl, slightly cut off a bit of the skin at the bottom. DO not cut too much…  if not all the soup will not be able to be contain inside.
